Every election is important for a democracy to function according to the choices in leadership made by its citizens. The 2024 election year is labeled as a life changing event. According to the U.S. Elections Project, approximately 66.7% of registered voters participated in the 2020 Presidential election. And, in terms of the eligible U.S. population, approximately 66.8% of eligible individuals registered to vote in the 2020 Presidential election. According to the Pew Research Center, about two-thirds (66%) of the voting-eligible population turned out for the 2020 presidential election – the highest rate for any national election since 1900. Worldwide, when comparing turnout among the voting-age population in the 2020 presidential election against recent national elections in 49 other countries, the U.S. ranks 31st – between Colombia (62.5%) and Greece (63.5%). So, in 2020 2/3 of the eligible U.S. population registered to vote and 2/3 of registered voters actually voted. We can do better.

The state of the economy is an incentive to get voters to the polls to select the candidate they think will do the most to improve their personal financial status. As James Carville, the political strategist in the Clinton campaign said, “It’s the economy, stupid.”

Here is the issue: How important is the selection of a Presidential candidate going to make a difference in your personal financial circumstances? And, how much power do you feel a President has to make your personal budget better or worse? And, which parts of the U.S. Federal Government have the greatest impact on your personal finances? That is, "it’s not what you earn, it’s how much you keep" that’s important.
